January 1st. The temperature was 20 degrees and the sunshine was so bright.
We went for a lovely walk down to Rosia Bay, where people (who were braver than me) were actually swimming in the sea!
After last night it was so nice to have some quiet. Whilst we did go down to Casemates Square to see the live music and fireworks, what we didn’t anticipate was the private fireworks which went on until about 0200. Poor Mr Peanut was not at all happy. He spent a few hours hiding under the bed, and I have to say that it was not a great feeling knowing that just glass windows stood between us and about a millions rockets!
I have always been told (and secretly happy) that fireworks aren’t legally available in Gibraltar, unless you have a license for a display, but this year we have had so many people letting them off sporadically, even during the day. In fact whilst we were at Catalan Bay this week a group of guys were filming a rocket going up, I guess I am just old, because the entire exercise just seemed pointless, there was nothing to see as it was day time and whilst it was really loud, nothing else happened. Well it annoyed us, the residents of the flats on the beach and about a trillion seagulls…
Anyway here is what Gibraltar looked like today on this ‘winters’ afternoon. Pretty special I think you’ll agree. And once again happy new year to you all and wishing you a very happy, healthy and success filled 2016!
