Runway 2014 – Michael Pattison

The first of the international designers to show at Runway was Michael Pattison. Designing for both men and woman, he offered quite the unique collection. Embracing bold prints for both sexes he pushed boundaries with his male costumes, offering ‘play-suit’ and ‘jump-suit’ style outfits. Some of the postage stamp inspired prints really reminded me of Mary Katrantzou’s collection from SS2013. For the most part the collection had an almost utilitarian feel for me, so even though you were confronted with bold colour-ways, the pieces were nonetheless wearable. The ladies wear was elegant yet eye-catching and included several pieces in a beautiful lime shade that really stood out for me, especially when paired with the deep magenta shade that was prolific throughout the collection.
