New Camera @ Euro Electronics

If you find yourself looking for a new camera in Gibraltar this is one store I recommend highly, not only are they the agent for Olympus, but they are the only store, and considering the vast amount of electronic stores along Main Street, who are actually willing and happy to sell a camera. (I will also say the same about Khubchands, but those guys are good for TV’s and household things! Again they have a great attitude towards selling and customer service, they are also knowledgeable about all the stuff they stock and I’ve found are rarely beaten on price.)

I love taking pictures. But I am in no way shape or form a knowledgeable type when it comes to the equipment you should use. I have owned a couple of point and shoot pocket cameras, I bought my first ‘big’ camera from this store over a years ago, although that was more like a point and shoot with an awesome zoom and special settings, this time we got an Olympus PEN camera. I wont lie, I still have hardly any idea what I am doing with it. But the in store help has been terrific. Like a process of elimination they asked so many questions about what I wanted to do with it, where would I use it, what type of cameras I had used, they showed me how similar the settings were to my previous camera, but also the new changeable lenses the difference they make, then they showed me a couple from different brands as I had mentioned them in passing, (a lot of my friends have cameras too, I blame Facebook!) highlighting the best features, and then finally asking what kind of budget we had. So the entire range was shown to us, nothing left out, videos were watched on how to use the cameras, giving examples of what can be done with them etc…

From the moment we walked in to the moment we left we were given gold standard service. It isn’t a service just offered on higher price sales, when I purchased a tripod for my camera, spare batteries, headphones all sorts of little bits and bobs across the space of the two and a bit years we have been here they have just been the nicest people, always helpful, always friendly, I simply can not fault them on customer service, the same can be said of their after sale policy, as I mentioned I have no clue about some of the settings on this new gadget of mine, and when I have popped in or telephoned, my questions have been answered fully and without any rolling of eyes or sighs, which as someone who shops in Gibraltar I can tell you is something of a rarity as customer service can sometimes feel like a forgotten notion. OK, so I have said what I wanted to say, Khubchands for TV’s, electric razors, grills etc and Euro Electronics for cameras, especially if you favour Olympus as they are the agent, and they do Nikon to, although I am not 100% sure if they are the agent for that brand or not. They are wonderful.

  1. I remember going to a branch of a computer company with global pretentions to buy a new large laptop to replace my desktop which had ceased functioning a day or two earlier.

After I’d been there for about 10 minutes, a sales assistant came over and asked me if I needed any help. I said I’d like to take this one, pointing at the Sony Vaio.

He started to tell me all about it, I cut him short and said I want to buy this one. A small matter of the customer wanting to buy something wasn’t going to put him off his sales speel.

Eventually I caught the Manager’s eye, he came over and I explained to him his colleague didn’t seem to understand the concept of a customer wanting to buy something. I got my Sony.

    1. Lol. I know what you mean, if you go in and ask for something specific, well it is obvious you know what you want, but good customer service is not something I take for granted as there are some very rude retailers here! 😉
