The weekend just gone we went out for a friend’s birthday drinks. For some reason half of us hadn’t eaten before arriving and were famished. When we placed our drinks order we asked the waitress if we could order food. When she returned with our drinks she told us the kitchen was closed, but that she could prepare some desserts for us. I never need my arm twisting when it comes to dessert, so we had a look at the menu. Two portions of apple pie and one chocolate brownie were ordered. They arrived in record time and we order more drinks.
The desserts weren’t prepared fresh that day, but they hit the spot. They were full of flavour but it was obvious they had been a) taken out of a freezer and b) slammed into a microwave. Oh well beggars can not be choosers! After we had tucked into our desserts, the waitress came over to say that she had spoken to the chef and he would open the kitchen up again to make us food if we wanted. We said yes. We only ordered from the snack menu, cheese nachos, fries, onion rings and a couple of other nibbles, but it was all really good. I would definitely go there again and order from that menu. I would just avoid the dessert one.
On the evening we went to Bruno’s there was a big birthday party in full swing. It was very busy and the staff remained, calm composed and really helpful. We sat outside, admiring the view of the marina, (forgive the shocking photo quality, my Blackberry is not equipped with a flash!) and enjoying the warm evening weather. This is a clean, and more grown up place to have a drink in Gibraltar. A definite venue for high heels etc! This is our second visit to Bruno’s since we moved to Gibraltar and I dare say it will not be our last.
